Cardiff was a coal mining town. Today, several dozen of the original coke ovens remain and have been preserved. Several mining relics exist nearby, as do a few original homes. However, these original homes are occupied and surrounded by what can only be described as "White trash" - junk, trailers, and trash now sit in what could have been a very important historic area.
